TIDES

Updated: Jan 25, 2020

I'm living in the present,

dreading the future.

Foreseeing all blocks in my path,

forefeeling all traumas yet to come,

They say you've got to visualise your life,

you've got to feel your lies.

Well I can see my future,

but I don't feel it coming.

It's not mine,

I don't think it ever was.

I always had trouble believing it,

stepping into it.

Inspiration, it comes and it goes,

always just slightly out of reach.

Changing colour,

I changing shape.

A butterfly,

A dragonfly.

The heat from the sun,

The light from the moon.

Tantalising and fleeting,

beautiful yet infuriating.

Endless lifetimes over multiple oceans,

liberating, exhausting.

Grounded into Mother Earth,

yet flowing, like the tides.

I like the waves,

they take me home.

Building me up,

then knocking me down.

I see one coming,

It's big.

Once again, old friend,

come on, it’s been a while, come, take me down.

Let's fall together,

Lean into those familiar shadows, that familiar mess.

Let me revel in the chaos of your current,

enjoy the depths others find just too dark.

Intoxicating noise,

Perfect stillness.

Staying there for a while,

so tempted to just stay under your force forever.

But you spin me back around,

finding the shore.

Clinging to life, gasping another full breath into the lungs,

and feeling the glorious heat from the sun.

I am reminded.

The loving, ceremonial dance of the sun and the moon is never ending,

And so long as those stars live within me, so too am I, never ending.

So too am I, never ending.
